There’s more to teaching than standing in front of a classroom full of students - it requires passion, dedication, patience, and faith.

With over 25 years of experience, it’s clear that Chad Sheehan embodies these qualities and more, which is why he has been selected for the part-time role of Acting Principal at Our Lady of Lourdes.

As part of his .45 FTE role, Sheehan will continue to teach in the classroom, beginning his new position on January 13, 2025. He looks forward to inspiring students to live out their passions and faith, both inside and outside the classroom.

“What I love most about Catholic education is how it seamlessly integrates faith and learning. It offers a unique opportunity to nurture students’ spiritual, academic, and personal growth while fostering values like compassion, service, and community.”

Having experienced the benefits of Our Lady of Lourdes both as an educator and a parent, Sheehan’s goal is to build on the existing programs and work closely with the team to create meaningful and impactful learning experiences.

“I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact of a Catholic education. It offers a unique sense of community, where faith and learning come together to support each child’s growth. Serving in a community that integrates faith into every aspect of education is not only a privilege but also a deeply fulfilling calling,” he said.

“Chad’s unwavering passion for Catholic education, his commitment to delivering exceptional instruction and programming, and his extensive experience both working with students and as lead teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes position him as an outstanding candidate for the role of Acting Principal,” said Kat Grootjes.

Grootjes will continue to serve as part-time Principal, while also be taking on a new role as District Principal.

“I am excited to work closely with Chad during this transition. Together, we will ensure a smooth and seamless shift toward a collaborative leadership approach, fostering a strong, unified direction for the future of our school community,” Grootjes added.

“With 25 years of experience in education, Chad brings a deep passion, a wealth of skills, and a fresh perspective that will be a valuable addition to our administrative team at CISND,” Superintendent Pamela Guilbault said. “His commitment to student success and his collaborative approach to leadership will further strengthen our efforts to provide an exceptional learning environment.”
